The Type1Screen Study

The T1Screen Study is finding out what causes Type 1 Diabetes so we can find ways to prevent it.

In Australia, type 1 diabetes in children is twice as common as it was 20 years ago. Type1Screen offers antibody testing to children and young adults to determine if they are at risk of developing type 1 diabetes. Families of children with a negative antibody test are reassured their child's risk of developing type 1 diabetes is low. Those with a positive antibody test are offered close monitoring and participation in clinical trials which aim to prevent type 1 diabetes.

100% of your donation goes directly to the Type1Screen program and allows us to offer this opportunity to as many families as possible.

Thank you for supporting our mission to turn type one into type none

Each screening test costs $140. However, we are grateful for any amount!

Kirby and Molly testing

The recent work of Type1Screen researchers and collaborators suggests immune therapies are most effective when used in the early stages of disease, before insulin injections are required. Children and their families who have a positive antibody test will be offered participation in research aiming to prevent the need for insulin injections in the future.
